Following these basic instructions is an important step in an enjoyable sand art experience. We have done thousands of art activities with sand and have mastered these successful techniques.
Setting up
Dotted Lines: You may notice dotted lines (perforations) on some of your designs. These lines show where you can add details later using the drawing stylus. You can also fold or tear the paper along the lines as you paint.
Creative Adventures sand artist kits contain sturdy boards that are sticky on one side. The top paper has a design cut into it the beginning of a picture. You create the rest of the design using the embellishments included in this kit and your choice of sand painting techniques.
Our sparkling sand is a 100% natural, environmentally friendly product, made in the North America. It is safe for children of all ages.
All materials in this kit are photo-safe, so that children’s artwork can be preserved in your family’s memory albums and scrapbooks.
Get Ready Empty each bag of art sand into a small paper or plastic cup to make it easier to save. Fold a piece of paper in half and then open it up. Use this as your placemat and also as a funnel to pour extra sand back into the cup before using the next color. Use only one color at a time. If you can, it’s best to use dark colors first, then lighter ones.
Basic Technique
Everyone should start with this basic technique.
Step 1: Peel
Peel off the top layer of paper to expose the sticky surface. Peel up just the pieces for areas that will be the same color, so you can do them all at one time.
Step 2: Pour
Pour the art sand over the sticky areas. It’s OK to pour too much.
Step 3: Rub
Rub the art sand gently to make sure it sticks well.
Step 4: Tap
Tap the board on the paper to knock off the extra art sand.
Step 5: Pour
Pour the art sand back into its container, using the paper as a funnel. Be sure to pour back after using each color so that your art sand will stay clean and last longer.
